Description

Euphorbia heterophylla Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 453. 1753.

"Habitat in America calidiore." RCN: 3504.

Lectotype (Radcliffe-Smith in Bosser & al., Fl. Mascareignes 160: 94. 1982): [icon] "Tithymalus Curassavicus, Salicis & Atriplicis foliis variis, caulibus viridantibus" in Plukenet, Phytographia: t. 112, f. 6. 1691; Almag. Bot.: 369. 1696. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 98: 108 (BM-SL), see p. 149.

Current name: Euphorbia heterophylla L. (Euphorbiaceae).

Note: Dressler (in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 48: 332. 1961) noted the absence of any material at LINN and interpreted the name via the Plukenet plate, though without expressly treating it as the type.
