Description
Ranunculus lanuginosus Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 554. 1753.
"Habitat Monspelii." RCN: 4090.
Lectotype (La Valva & Caputo in Delpinoa, n.s., 27-28: 42. 1988): Herb. Burser IX: 141 (UPS).
Current name: Ranunculus lanuginosus L. (Ranunculaceae).
Note: Lacaita (in Bull. Orto Bot. Napoli 3: 257-258. 1913) and others such as Jelenevsky & Derviz-Sokolova (in Novosti Sist. Vyssh. Rast. 16: 117. 1979) treated 715.59 (LINN) as the type. However, this was a post-1753 addition to the collection, and La Valva & Caputo (who illustrated the Linnaean material as their Tav. I) therefore rejected this choice, designating Herb. Burser IX: 141 (UPS) as lectotype in its place.
