Mentha viridis (Linnaeus) Linnaeus, Species Plantarum, ed. 2, 2: 804. 1763.
"Habitat in Germania, Anglia, Gallia." RCN: 4200.
Basionym: Mentha spicata L. var. viridis L. (1753).
Lectotype (Tucker & al. in Taxon 29: 234. 1980): Herb. Clifford: 306, Mentha 1 (BM-000646003).
Current name: Mentha spicata L. (Lamiaceae).
