Mentha spicata Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 576. 1753.

Lectotype (Tucker & al. in Taxon 29: 234. 1980): Herb. Clifford: 306, Mentha 1 (BM-000646003).
Generitype of Mentha Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 165. 1929).
Current name: Mentha spicata L. (Lamiaceae).
