Lectotype (Romero Zarco in Anales Jard. Bot. Madrid 56: 178. 1998): [icon] " An Theophrasti araco homoion? " in Clusius, Exot. Libri: 87, 88. 1605.

Current name: Vicia sativa L. subsp. amphicarpa (L.) Batt. (Fabaceae: Faboideae).

Note: This binomial appears in a footnote at the end of an account of Lathyrus amphicarpus L., accompanied by a reference to a Clusius description and illustration. The binomial was previously attributed to Dorthes (in J. Phys. Chim. Hist. Nat. Arts 35: 131. 1789), but Romero Zarco has recently accepted Linnaeus’ statement as valid publication of the name and also lectotypified V. amphicarpa L.
