Description
Fraxinus excelsior Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 1057. 1753.
"Habitat in Europae sepibus." RCN: 7698.
Lectotype (Green in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 47. 1993): Herb. Clifford: 469, Fraxinus 1 (BM-000647544).
Generitype of Fraxinus Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 194. 1929).
Current name: Fraxinus excelsior L. (Oleaceae).
Note: Nikolaev (in Bot. Zhurn. 66: 1423. 1981) indicated unspecified material in LINN as type but no sheet there is associated with this name.
