Host: Megaphobema cf velvetosoma Schmidt (Theraphosidae) (Ecuadorian brownvelvet tarantula), adult or subadult female. The wasp dragged the paralyzed tarantula backwards on the leaf-covered ground, dorsal side upward, grasping the base of its left pedipalp with her mandibles (McAndrews 2010; R. Bertani, IBB, S„o Paulo, Brazil, 2019 pers. comm.).

The wasp examined then dragged the paralyzed tube trapdoor spider backwards on the ground, grasping the base of a foreleg with her mandibles (Rocha 2013; V. Ghirotto and R. The wasp dragged the paralyzed tarantula through grass, dorsal side upward, grasping the base of its right foreleg with her mandibles (Vilarino 2018).

A short video shows the wasp preening itself near the paralyzed wandering spider as it laid on its right side on the ground. Moments later, the wasp walked around the spider, examining it with her antennae, before grasping the spider’s chelicera region with her mandibles and carry it, dorsal side upward and backward on the ground, before laying it down. Then the wasp searched crevices between flat rocks before resecuring the spider with her mandibles and pulling it backwards into a nest cell between rocks below ground (Neto 2020).

The wasp held the base of a foreleg with her mandibles as she stung a tarantula, ventral side upward, between its chelicera as it laid on the ground (Lourenco 2018).

The wasp examined then dragged the paralyzed Brazilian wandering spider on the ground, ventral and dorsal side upward, at times grasping a foreleg with her mandibles (Karlos 2018).

The wasp flew after a tarantula, landed, grasped it with her mandibles, stung and paralyzed it as it laid, ventral side upward, on the ground (Mosini 2017).

BRAZIL: State of S„o Paulo, S„o Paulo; posted on 14 January 2016; L. Setton. Host: Phoneutria cf nigriventer, adult or subadult female. The wasp straddled the paralyzed wandering spider, ventral side upward, and stung it between the 2 nd and 3 rd right coxae (Setton 2016).
