Identification. Frontal lobes in frontal view triangular; general cephalic profile in lateral view ovoid; compound eyes relatively small; and ventral mesopleural carina (epicnemial carina of Serna and Mackay 2010) absent (Lattke 1997).

Distribution. The specimens found in Colombia are all new records for the country as well as a major range ex- pansion to the west (Fig. 1A) as Apterostigma angustum was only known from Venezuela and French Guiana (Lattke 1997; Fernández and Sendoya 2004).
