Description

Genus Zammara Amyot & Audinet-Serville, 1843

Type species. Tettigonia tympanum Fabricius 1803: 40. (Brazil).

Distribution. Specimens of the genus have been reported from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela (Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2011a, b; 2013; 2014a; 2018b; 2020c, d; Sanborn & Maes 2012; Maes et al. 2012; Sanborn & Heath 2014; Goemans 2016).
