Description

Cicindela (Pancallia) cyanea Fabricius, 1787, comb. nov.

(Figs 5 E–F, 11A)

Cicindela cyanea Fabricius, 1787:185.

Cicindela dejeanii Hope, 1831:21 [synonymy by Acciavatti & Pearson 1989:103].

Cicindela obliquevittata Fleutiaux, 1898:147 [synonymy by Horn 1926:183].

Cicindela (Sericina) cyanea: Rivalier 1961:123.

Cicindela (Sophiodela) cyanea: Acciavatti & Pearson 1989:103.

Specimens examined. (N = 1) [East India] 1♂ (SDEI), Jharkhand, Chota Nagpore, Palkol, VI-VII. 1897, R.P. Cardon leg.

Description. Internal sac everted dorso-apically. VA and VB largest in bladders, followed in order by DA, DLL. B and VLR not exist.

VA swollen hooked, long, everted ventrally at apex. VLL roundly swollen ventrally. DA swollen dorsally. DLL roundly swollen, vested with fine spines. VB oval and widely swollen, everted left laterally, vested numerously with long spines, which are forming a band. Flagellum well short, curved. Medial tooth short, extending ventro-apically, tapered gently at apex.

Remarks. This species shares the characteristics of the position of each bladder with C. (P). shivah, but is distinguished by the following characteristics: DLL vested with fine spines; VLL exists; apical surface of VA not depressed.

This species is apparently distinguished from the members of Sophiodela by the structures of the everted internal sac and shares its structures with the members of the subgenus Pancallia.
