Hosts. Polyphagous, reported from 226 species belonging to 83 plant families (García Morales et al. 2016). In Uruguay, Pl. citri was recorded on Bougainvillea sp. (Nyctaginaceae), Euphorbia pulcherrima (Euphorbiaceae), Ficus sp. (Moraceae), Gardenia jasminoides (Rutaceae), Justicia carnea (Acanthaceae), Malus domestica (Rosaceae), Nerium oleander (Apocynaceae), Olea europaea (Oleaceae), Pyrus communis (Rosaceae), Vitis vinifera (Vitaceae) (Granara de Willink et al. 1997), Citrus limon, C. sinensis, C. reticulata (Rutaceae), Ficus carica (Moraceae), Solanum tuberosum (Solanaceae) (Trujillo Peluffo 1930) and Laurus nobilis (Lauraceae) (Ruffinelli 1967).

Distribution. Australasian, Afrotropical, Nearctic, Neotropical, Oriental and Palaearctic regions (García Morales et al. 2016).
