D3.3 - Overview of progress on topical task forces

The OpenAIRE-Advance project runs a number of task forces in three topical areas relevant to open science: Research Data Management, Open Science Policies, and Legal Issues for Research Data. This deliverable has the goal of outlining the development of these task forces, to present the players involved, and the outputs produced during these first 24 months. Drawing from the task forces’ experiences, suggestions will be made on how to streamline future activities in the topical fields covered by the task forces.

The aim of the OpenAIRE-Advance task forces is to synergistically leverage the already-existing wealth of expertise in the network of OpenAIRE stakeholders, and to collaboratively develop a publicly shared pool of knowledge and communities of practice around these key issues. This is facilitated via joint production of dissemination material (e.g. guides, fact sheets, and checklists), as well as via a collection of webinars, which are organized by task force leaders, often in cooperation with internal experts from the network, and external stakeholders and third parties with expertise in a given topic.

NOADs play an active role in OpenAIRE-Advance’s topical task forces not only in the contribution to the written outcomes (guides, fact sheets, and checklists) but also with the webinars organised by the task force leaders. In January 2019, it was decided to merge the legal and policy task forces. During the reporting period, a web page has been created to give visibility to the members of the Task Forces and their outputs. To give more visibility to the activities of the task forces, their outputs have also been added to OpenAIRE’s overall list of support materialson the website.
