Comparing generator predictions of single transverse variables in neutrino-argon scattering

In the near future, the SBN and DUNE experiments will both leverage liquid argon time projection chamber (LArTPC) technology to pursue high-precision measurements of neutrino oscillations. Interpretation of the results from these efforts will require a detailed understanding of neutrino-argon scattering cross sections, which are currently subject to significant theoretical uncertainties and remain largely unmeasured. In recent years, the study of kinematic observables in the plane transverse to the neutrino beam has provided a new and powerful handle on theoretically challenging nuclear effects in neutrino scattering. This poster presents a comparison of model predictions for distributions of these observables obtained using four neutrino event generators (GENIE, NuWro, GiBUU, and NEUT). Results are shown for simulations of muon neutrinos from the Fermilab Booster Neutrino Beam interacting in the MicroBooNE LArTPC. Opportunities for model discrimination using future measurements are highlighted.
