Legislative regulatory mechanisms for reducing the negative effects of pesticides on public health
Authors/Creators
Description
The wide use of pesticides to control pests on crops had driven the public attention in the recent years towards the potential risks, arising from their application. The various groups of plant protection products, depending on their main activity, have been constantly improved in order to ensure they are inexpensive, highly effective and with limited risk to the environment and public health. In Europe, like in other countries worldwide (for example in North America) there have been implemented certain legislative basis and control measures for the purpose of regulation the use of pesticides and the hazards for humans and natural resources. With the present work we tried to analyze the existing legal framework in EU, concerning the evaluation, authorization, placing on the market and the communication on the PPPs (Plant Protection Products). We also tried to point out the effects of implementation of the coordinated multi-national programme for control of pesticides.
