FINAL RDA RESULTS, ADOPTION & TAKE-UP REPORT

This report describes take-up and adoption of work produced by RDA and, more specifically, the role of the RDA Europe 4.0 project in promoting such take-up and adoption. It is the second of two reports which will cover this topic; the first version, D2.1 RDA Results, Adoption and take-up report, was delivered in May 2019.

The Research Data Alliance has 43 Recommendations and Supporting Outputs, 8 of which are officially acknowledged as ICT Technical Specifications. There are also several more Recommendations and Supporting Outputs in the process of endorsement. A full list can be seen on the RDA website using the RDA’s new Recommendations and Outputs catalogue tool.1.
A number of actions have been taken by the RDA Europe project to increase the adoption of outputs, including:

• A successful open call to award grants to adoption projects;
• Increasing the volume of published Adoption Stories online, including the introduction of new audiovisual Adoption Stories;
• Facilitating the publication of articles in the CODATA Data Science Journal Special Collection on RDA Results;
• Promoting and disseminating RDA use cases by illustrating examples in webinars, plenary sessions, and in the RDA Global Adoption Week in June 2020.

In addition, cascading grants directed toward RDA Europe Ambassadors for disciplines and in the establishment of RDA National Nodes have played a role in fostering the take-up of RDA results. The RDA Secretariat also convened a Global Adoption Task Force during the RDA Europe 4.0 project period, which has worked with organisations who have implemented RDA Outputs in order to produce use cases for supporting adoption and has actively tracked the uptake of outputs throughout the duration of the RDA Europe 4.0 project.
