Influence of ionic strength on properties of films casted from aqueous dispersions of zein nanoparticles

Description
The focus of this work was to prepare zein films by casting the aqueous dispersions of zein nanoparticles. Influence of ionic strength (10-2 M and 10-3 M NaCl) on stability of zein dispersions, and on optical properties, mechanical properties, water vapor permeability, moisture absorption, solubility in water of the casted zein films was investigated. Zein films were plasticized with either propylene glycol (PG) or polyethylene glycol 200 (PEG 200), and effects of plasticization were also studied.
