Description
This video accompanies the occurrence record of Stauroderus scalaris (Fischer von Waldheim, 1846) at https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/53932082 (as well as https://www.gbif.org/occurrence/2823184397).
While another male is singing loud in the background, the filmed male is first producing only soft chirps, and adds loud chirps at 0:00:16. At 0:00:22 a rivalling male flies in (not filmed) while producing its typical rasping flight chirp. From then on, both males sing concurrently.
The clear sounding "frrree" in the background is from the bird Fringilla coelebs (Chaffinch).
