Public Perception of Offshore Wind Farms Report Part 1

  • 1. MaREI, University College Cork
  • 2. University College Cork

Description

Until recently, Ireland has developed terrestrial wind farms without significant opposition (O’Connor, 2018).  With increasing pressure to install more onshore wind farms (Lange et al., 2018), and to bring wind farms offshore, it is necessary to begin a national study of public perception of offshore wind farms in Ireland.  This report is an introduction to the methodologies, which have been designed in order to undertake such a national study of public perception.  This document supplies information regarding questionnaire design, sampling strategy and pilot questionnaire results.
