FIG. 4. Ventral aspect of the crania of: left, M. brachypterus from Zaire (FMNH 43877); middle, the holotype of M. brachypterus (ZMB 85537); right, the holotype of M. bakarii (FMNH 192895). Note presence of basisphenoid pits in the two specimens of M. brachypterus, and absence of such pits in M. bakarii. Note also similarity of canines between the holotypes of M. brachypterus and M. bakarii. (Drawing made by R. Kramer)
