Thedevelopmentofminiaturizedsystemsabletospecificallydetectlowamountsofharmfulgasesinawireless,quickandprecisewayisademandinoursociety.Magnetoelasticresonatorsarebecominganattractiveoptionsincethedetectiononthesematerialsiswirelessandfast1.However,inordertodetectaspecificgas,theseresonatorsmustbefunctionalizedwithactivematerialscapableofabsorbinginaselectivewaythedesiredcompound.Inthatway,MetalOrganicFrameworks(MOFs)porousmaterialsaregaininginterestforgasadsorption,duetotheirexcellentpropertiessuchashighsurfaceareas,highporevolumes,lowdensityoreasytunabilityoftheirorganicandinorganicbuildingblocks2.
ItisclearthatthefunctionalizationoftheresonatorwithagoodMOFlayerisarelevantstepsincethatlayershouldgatheraseriesofproperties,suchhomogeneity,highporosityorgoodadhesion3.Inthiswork,differentfunctionalizationprocessesaswellasdifferentMOFsarecomparedinordertoelucidatethebestfunctionalizationmethod.Thisstudyisthefirststepoffurtherimprovementstowardsfuturegasdetectionusinghighsensitiveandselectivemagnetoelasticdevices.
