Description

The essay examines the influence of Guittone’s poetry on Petrarch’s Canzoniere. The ordering and historical-biographical contextualization of Guittone’s political songs in the Laurentian codex can be related to the choices that in Canzoniere allow the integration of the three political songs into the love story. The influence of Guittone’s poetry is also evident in other poems, especially in the so-called canzone-frottola.
