Description

Genus Proaposolenidia Mironov & Proctor, 2007

Type species: Proaposolenidia accipitris Mironov & Proctor, 2007, by original designation.

So far, only two species of Proaposolenidia have been described (Mironov et al. 2007), both from birds of the family Accipitridae: P. accipitris Mironov & Proctor, 2007 from Accipiter cooperii (Bonaparte, 1828), and P. elanoides Mironov & Proctor, 2007 from Elanoides forficatus (Linnaeus, 1758). Two new species are described below, and one more species is transferred from the genus Hieracolichus (see below discussion on Hieracolichus); thus, the genus Proaposolenidia currently includes five species.
