Curating the institutional scholarly record using open APIs for Scholix and DataCite
Description
A widespread problem for institutions is how to curate the institutional scholarly record when researchers deposit their data in external repositories but don’t necessarily inform their institution.
This poster outlines how The University of Manchester Library addressed this problem by using open APIs for Scholix and DataCite to identify relevant datasets, and harvest their metadata to populate the institutional Current Research Information System (CRIS).
This work resulted in the addition of more than 6,000 dataset records to the institutional CRIS, including two-way links with associated publication records.
The University of Manchester Library is openly sharing code that was created for this work so that others can also benefit from this approach. This poster includes links to the Github resource that hosts this code, and a blog post that describes the work in more detail.
