Flexural and Shear Behaviour of Chopped Basalt Fiber Reinforced Concrete

Description

The paper presents the Flexural Behaviour of Basalt Fiber Reinforced Concrete by adding 0, 0.5 to 3.5% fiber in concrete. The fibers used were chopped fibers 25mm length. The concrete used in this test was M50 grade of concrete designed using Indian standard code. For each percent six beams were casted, three for 7 days and remaining 3 for 28 days. A total of 48 beams were casted. These cubes were then cured for respective time and tested in accordance with the testing procedure for flexural test according to Indian standard. The testing was carried out on Universal testing Machine (UTM). The testing showed a significant increase in flexural strength of concrete when basalt fiber were added with respect to plain concrete.
