Heat capacity in relation to the Danish Building regulations
Description
In the Danish building regulations which was introduced in 2006 a calculation of the heating and cooling demand is required. It is possible to utilize the thermal mass in building constructions to reduce the variation of the room temperatures and thereby create a more uniform indoor climate and to reduce the requirements for heating and cooling. The paper will contain following main points: - Summary of the performed calculations, which make it possible to quantify the effect of the utilisation of the thermal performance of the thermal mass of different materials for accumulation of heat in the surfaces of buildings. - Analysis of the effect of utilisation of different materials in relation to the rules in the building regulations. The energy and comfort related performance of the different choices of building materials is compared. The calculation principle which corresponds to the building regulations is applied. - Show examples on how the material data can be used in connection with the new building regulations. - Discuss possibilities and limitations of the applied methods.
