Transmedia and documentary fiction in the Ukrainian regional comic strip

The ideological-thematic load, artistic and stylistic features of the graphic novel “The Legend of the Missing Miners”, based on the play “Underground Sky” by Grigory Turenko, are analyzed. The emphasis on the study of the history of appearance of the work, its genre specificity and content component is made.

Substantive characteristics of the contemporary sample of the national historical-fiction graphic novel, created on a regional basis, is presented.

The features of expression in the work of the “documentary” category are considered; the features of combination of documentary and fantasy in the comic book format; ideological-thematic load, features of representation of spatial and temporal categories are analyzed and considered. The urgency of the work, educational and entertaining functions are characterized.

The results of the work can be used in further explorations of the documentary narrative of the Ukrainian comic strip.
