Description

These files supplement the publication

Intraindividual consistency between auditory and visual multistability
 by Einhäuser, W., da Silva, L.F.O., & Bendixen, A.

The files stateSequences.mat and allEyeData.mat contain the data as described below. To exemplify their usage, the functions figure2.m through figure6.m output the paper’s data figures.

stateSequences.mat contains the following variables:
xVis, xAud, xMix – reported state sequences for the visual, the auditory and the mixed condition (1-integrated, 2- segregated leftward motion/low-pitch tone in the foreground, 3 - segregated rightward motion/high-pitch tone in the foreground, >3 - undefined states lasting longer than 200ms). The variable is a cell array of size 16x1, one vector per participant. The two blocks of each condition are concatenated, start is indicated by an NaN entry.
tVis, tAud, tMix – durations in second that correspond to the states in xVis, xAud and xMix, respectively.

allEyeData.mat contains the following cell arrays

of size 16 x 2 x 2 (subject x condition [visual/mixed] x repetition):
xEyeRaw / yEyeRaw – raw horizontal/vertical eye position in screen coordinates
xEyeSlowOnly / yEyeSlowOnly – horizontal/vertical eye position containing only slow eye movements (saccades removed)
slowDir – slowPhase direction computed from eye-movement data (in radian)
slowVel – slowPhase speed (absolute velocity) computed from eye-movement data
slowVelUp – vertical component of slowPhase velocity

of size 16 x 2 x 2 x 3 (subject x condition [visual/mixed] x repetition x state type [integrated, segregated (left/low pitch), segregated (right/high pitch)]):
stateOnIdx / stateOffIdx – starting and ending index of the respective state in the corresponding eye-movement data

Note: allEyeData.mat is about 0.5 GB in size, so only load variables needed for analysis.
