ANÁLISE DO ESFORÇO MUSCULAR DURANTE A EXECUÇÃO DOS MOVIMENTOS DE FLEXÃO E EXTENSÃO DE PUNHO EM PACIENTES COM DOENÇA DE PARKINSON - UM ESTUDO PILOTO

Description

The aim of this study was to analyze and compare
muscle electrical activity during wrist flexion and extension
movements in the sagittal plane and latero-lateral axis, with the
same protocol performed in the transverse plane and
longitudinal axis. The results will be used to improve the
collection protocol of a study that performs the ergonomic
evaluation of an active wrist orthosis. Two individuals
participated in this research, one male and one female,
respectively, 62 and 56 years old, both diagnosed with
Parkinson's disease. Data collection consisted of applying the
Movement Disorders Society - Unified Parkinson's Disease
Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS), acquiring the Maximum
Voluntary Contraction of the wrist flexor and extensor muscles
to establish a reference value, and then acquisition of the
electromyographic activity of the wrist flexor and extensor of
the dominant limb during these movements. EMG signal
analysis was performed in specific routines developed in Matlab
environment (Mathworks®). The results show that the wrist
flexion movement when performed in the transverse plane,
longitudinal axis has higher percentage of muscle activation
when compared to the same movement performed in the sagittal
plane, latero-lateral axis.
