Description

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most successful exam among diagnostic imaging exams to differentiate tissues and soft tissues, helping in many ways to accurately diagnose many illnesses and traumas. However, this exam has uncomfortable elements in its accomplishment such as the noise produced by the equipment and immobility for a long time, as well as staying indoors. At this point, the objective of this research was to analyze whether patients, while listening to music during MRI exams, felt more comfortable, relaxed and collaborative. To this end, after approval by the Research Ethics Committee, 22 patients were invited from a Diagnostic Imaging Center in Curitiba-PR to listen to musical styles (jazz, popular, classical, meditative and oriental) during the examination MRI and after its completion, answer a short questionnaire regarding the use of music during the procedure. The use of music was seen with good receptivity by the patients, and there were suggestions for its use in the clinic routine.
