Lymphoma diseases patients patterns in Misan Government
Description
Lymphoma a heterogeneous group of biologically and clinically neoplasm that originate from lymphoid tissue. They are historically divided into two groups, Hodgkin’s and Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Identification of lymphoma’s patterns in Misan and evaluate the characteristics of the disease.
Methods: A retrospective single center study was conducted at Al-Shifaa Oncology Center, Al-Sadder Teaching Hospital, during recruitment period from April, 2016 to April 2018, in Misan city, Iraq. 80 Misanian (60 man and 20 women), who have lymphoma were involved in this study.
Results: The mean±SD for age was 36±12.8 years. 53(67.5%) of patients lived in rural areas, whereas 27(32.5%) lived in urban regions. Male to female ratio was 1.5:1. NHL cases were three times prevalent more than HL. The stage IV was most frequent presented in 34(42.5%) of patients. The classical subtypes of HL was common in 14(70%) patients. The DLBCL subtypes was common among other NHL subtypes, which recorded in 44(73.3%) of patients.
Conclusion: NHL were more common than HL and more frequent in men. HL has been diagnosed for every three NHL cases. Most common histopathology regarding HL is mixed cellularity while DLBCL is the commonest for NHL. Most of the cases presented with advance stages.
