Description

Spiral waves in the heart can get pinned to obstacles and cause life threatening cardiac arrhythmias. These pinned waves can be unpinned by an electrical stimulus applied close to the core of the spiral wave in a narrow time interval called the unpinning window of the spiral. In experiments involving cardiac monolayers, we find that the obstacles near the pinning centre of the spiral can make unpinning possible. In simulations involving the Fitzhugh Nagumo model of excitable media, we find  increasing or decreasing of the width of the unpinning window depending on the location, orientation and distance between the pinning centre and the obstacle. This repository contains all the publicly available raw data and python scripts for generating figures and movies in the journal publication.
