Description

This preliminary study aims to point out the Brazilian improvisation autonomy question on the basis of post-colonial studies perspective, presenting a critical interpretation about the aesthetic hegemonic production represented by jazz. Mobilizing both the experience of Quarteto Novo group and the theoretic-methodological approach of Santos (2002), we intend to discuss of a Brazilian improvisation field. We consider that Brazilian improvisation can either absorb and complement the jazz experience, building more autonomous possibilities of interpretation.
