Description

This is the initial release, version 1.0.0, of the open standard for particle-mesh data files (openPMD).

It adds the base standard for general particle and mesh based data structures and the first extension for electro-dynamic and electro-static particle-in-cell (PIC) codes.

Notes

(Acknowledgements) The design of this standard is based on the experiences we gained in the last years implementing efficient, parallel I/O in several PIC codes, but most recently in PIConGPU (picongpu.hzdr.de). Special thanks goes to Felix Schmitt (formerly ZIH / TU Dresden, now with Nvidia Corp.) and René Widera (HZDR).
