User-level RDMA with IOMMU support on ARM platforms

Description
As part of the ExaNeSt project, one of the basic problems that is addressed is the use of the IOMMU (I/O Memory Management Unit) in order to support user-level remote DMA (RDMA) transactions between multiple nodes (one UltraScale+ FPGA per node). This was achieved by setting the IOMMU and its components carefully, which allowed us to handle concurrent RDMA transactions from different protection domains (processes). A set of measurements is provided for read transactions. Results seem promising – especially for data packets up to 4KB.
