Description
Ayurveda is one such ancient Indian medicine science that represent to the different aspect of medicine. Ayurveda believes that onecan be a good physician and surgeon both only when he has practically observed and learned all about the human anatomy. Marma is such a unique principle. It can be explained as sandhisthanam orjeevasthanam. Its first and foremost literature is seen in brihattrayee.However acharyacharak described only trimarma (shira, hridaya and basti).Marma are meeting place of five elements of the body namely ? Mamsa, Sira, Snayu, Asthiand Sandhi. Marma are the vital areas avoided during surgical procedures due to its fatality. Acharyasusruta described 107 marmaand According to regional classification he described 44 shakhagata marma-22 urdhvashakhagata and 22 adhoshakhagata.Here our attempt is to clarify the concept of adhoshakhagatamarma.
