For an easy process of administration, Britishes began to make a scientific study on the Indian culture, rituals, Practices, castes and tribes. With this they displayed the history of another side of India. By presenting multicultural view of India, tried to capture the pulse of India. At the beginning Christian missionaries has come to India to spread Christianity. By serving the nation, they tried to eradicate the superstitions, and blind beliefs, and created a document with their writings on agriculture, land, water resource, trade, history and archaeology. These document, have given a view of the paths that India has successfully stepped. In this background, achievement of Buchanan has to be observed. Though he was a M.D.Graduate, yet his interested fields were wide. He was a fellow of landon Royal society and Archaeological society, was also a fellow of Asiatic Society of Kolkota. Due to this, he was appointed as a reporter to study Mysore, Canara and Malbar states’ agriculture, art, commerce religion and its practices, traditions and social and historical ramnants during 24.8.1800. He started his journey from Madras and travelled to Mysore, Canara and Malbar. He took 1 year 2 months and 13 days to cover these areas that is from 23-4-1800 to 6-7-1801. He took 25days to cover chitradurga district.
