Description
‘Recovery from psychosis through design’ is a design project based on a close collaboration between designers, mental health care professionals, and people with lived experience of psychosis. The resulting three interventions illustrate how healthcare can move away from the ‘old’ medical models in which the user is put in a passive position. Instead the project shows how designers can create tools that trigger new or adaptive behaviour, tools that enable users to deal with mental health problems in their day-to-day lives, and tools that empower people. The interventions demonstrate how mental healthcare can shift from an emphasis on relieving symptoms to a focus on enabling people in achieving a meaningful life.
