Description
This study ported the parallel PEST to High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters and adapted it to work with the The Weather Research and Forecasting Hydrological (WRF-Hydro) modeling system. The porting involved writing scripts to modify the workflow for different workload managers and job schedulers, as well as developing code to connect parallel-PEST to WRF-Hydro. We developed a case study using a flood in the midwestern United States in 2013 to test the operational feasibility and computational benefits of the HPC-enabled parallel PEST linked to WRF-Hydro.
The files include (1) PESTCode.zip, the original code of PEST with a slight modification, see ReadMe file; (2) ScriptsForEdison.zip, the scripts that customized for PEST to run on Edison, one of U.S. Department of Energy operated supercomputers; (3) PESTFiles.zip, the four types of files that are required by parallel PEST and custom-designed for WRF-Hydro.
