Description

Indian democracy has been the world’s largest democracy & is emerging as the strongest democratic countries across the world. There have been several challenges & threats to Indian democracy as the fast changing global scenario is pressuring countries politically & economically. Whether democratic processes work better in homogeneous or heterogeneous societies is a matter of speculation, but India with her culturally and ethnically diverse groups is known to be the world's largest democracy. Democracy promises peace, prosperity, and equality, but in reality creates criminals, encourages exploitation, throws common people into an abyss of sorrow and suffering. This paper examines the threats to Indian democracy from an historical aspect& focuses on addressing the challenges.
