Make software findable with the Research Software Directory

Description

In this presentation, I talk about how Research Software Directories use metadata to improve findability by machines, specifically search engines. Some formats that are involved:

  • CITATION.cff /  Citation File Format
  • .zenodo.json
  • CodeMeta
  • schema.org
  • DataCite v4 via OAI-PMH

Some related tools (besides the Research Software Directory itself):

  • cffinit: initializer for CITATION.cff files
  • cffconvert: command line program to convert from Citation File Format to CodeMeta, BibTex, and other formats
