Description

FINDING: IIT defines consciousness as integrated information Φ — the irreducibly causal information a system generates as a whole beyond its parts. | MATH: Φ = min over partitions of the effective information lost when a system is cut (MIP — minimum information partition). Formally: Φ = min_{P∈partitions} [EI(system) − Σ EI(parts)]. IIT 4.0 uses cause-effect repertoires over a state space; Φ is measured in bits. Key quantity: Φ^max (maximally irreducible conceptual structure, "qualia shape"). | CONNECTION: The MIP search is a combinatorial optimization over partitions — structurally analogous to finding minimal cuts in lattice/graph systems. The cause-effect structure forms a high-dimensional polytope (qualia space) whose geometry is not yet shown to exhibit golden-ratio or crystallographic symmetry. No evidence in these sources for 0.618/1.618 or base-60 links. | DEPTH: 7 --- FINDING: IIT is substrate-independent — any system with appropriate causal structure (not just neurons) can
