Quadrupole Outside, Dipole Inside

Authors/Creators

Description

This paper presents a speculative extension of Wave Origin Cosmology (WOC), proposing that cosmic expansion may originate from the redirection of rotational motion within an early-universe vortex rather than from the complete dissipation of primordial angular momentum.

Building upon the hypothesis that the universe emerged through shear instabilities in a primordial pool of probability waves, the framework explores how an initially rotating cosmic structure could evolve into a universe exhibiting expansion with negligible global rotation.

The central proposal, described as “quadrupole outside, dipole inside,” suggests that the original vortex could preserve a quadrupolar (ℓ = 2) geometric signature at its boundary while interior observers detect a dipolar signature associated with their motion through the expanding cosmic flow.

A simplified energy-transfer model is introduced to illustrate how rotational kinetic energy might be redirected into radial expansion. The paper examines possible connections between this mechanism and observed large-scale cosmic microwave background (CMB) anomalies, including suppressed quadrupole power, quadrupole–octopole alignment, preferred cosmological axes, and reported tensions involving the matter dipole.

Potential observational tests are discussed, including the statistical relationship between CMB dipole and quadrupole directions, constraints on residual cosmic vorticity, and future measurements of large-scale matter distributions.

The proposed mechanism remains hypothetical and is not presented as a replacement for established cosmological equations. Instead, it offers a conceptual framework for investigating whether cosmic expansion and large-scale anisotropies could retain signatures of an earlier rotational state.
