Description

Description(English)

This record presents the revised edition (ver.1) of the four theories that constitute Quasi-First Principles (Intelligence).

  • A Theory of the Structure of the Arising and Connection of Intelligence: Quasi-First Principles (Intelligence) (General Theory)
  • A Theory of the Establishment of Activation Triggers: Quasi-First Principles (Intelligence) — Ontology
  • A Theory of Pressure Transformation: Quasi-First Principles (Intelligence) — Dynamics
  • A Theory of the Structure of Manifestation: Quasi-First Principles (Intelligence) — World Theory

With the emergence of artificial intelligence, the intelligence of Homo sapiens has become relativized through comparison with artificial systems, and the concept of intelligence has acquired a form of symmetry. This theory describes intelligence not by ability but by the relation between intelligent entities and the world, and thereby treats natural intelligence and artificial intelligence on the same foundation.

Ontology, Dynamics, and World Theory each describe intelligence from one viewpoint: the trigger of activation, the process of transformation, and connection with the world. The General Theory superimposes the three theories without integrating them, and derives the following claim as what appears only in their overlap.

Intelligence is a continuous, circulating structure in which, within the world that an intelligent entity observes and is connected to, a gap established either by action from outside or by change on the side of the intelligent entity serves as the trigger for constructing means of coping with that connected world as resources, and in which the entity's own connected world continues to be updated ameliorably for that intelligent entity.

The General Theory shows that every counterexample to this claim converges on a structure that could completely grasp and control the whole of intelligence and the world (a complete information structure), and examines from three sides that such a structure is not established. The claim thus stands in a position where it can be neither overturned nor confirmed from within the relation between intelligent entities and the world. The name "Quasi-First Principles" derives from this consequence.

This framework is intended as a "principle," not as an absolute truth. It does not present a unique or final solution, but offers one perspective for describing the phenomenon of intelligence. Each theory states explicitly the conditions under which it would be falsified.

This framework is positioned as a foundational theory and intentionally leaves substantial room for interpretation, extension, and application. The author, however, does not intend to participate in such extensions or applications.

This theory does not claim ownership over phenomena themselves, nor does it seek to define reality in an exclusive sense. It is a structural theory that describes phenomena from a particular perspective. Accordingly, this work should not be interpreted as a claim of proprietary discovery, but as a form of explanatory or specification-oriented description.

While this framework contains many elements that may connect with existing theories, it is not intended to negate or prove those theories. The relation of each theory to prior theories is shown in its own text.

This framework has two subsequent theories built on it: The First Information Theorem, which describes information on the basis of this framework, and The AI Principle, which describes artificial intelligence on the basis of this framework and the First Information Theorem. Reading them together is recommended.

The Japanese texts are authoritative. This edition also includes English translations. Where the English translation and the Japanese text differ, the Japanese text takes precedence.

Changes from the previous edition: the English name has been changed from "Proto-First Principles of Intelligence" to "Quasi-First Principles (Intelligence)", and English translations of all four theories have been added.
