Authors/Creators
Description
The Digital Health Literacy Competency Framework for Frontline Healthcare Professionals, developed by InnovateHealth Africa, defines the digital health competencies healthcare professionals require to practise safely and effectively in digitally enabled care across African health systems. The Framework sets out thirty-three competencies across seven domains, spanning basic digital skills, electronic health records, telemedicine, artificial intelligence and decision support, data privacy and security, digital communication, and digital health innovation and capacity building. It was developed through a rigorous process informed by the COSMIN methodology for health measurement instruments, combining a synthesis of international competency frameworks, local expert review and scientific evaluation with frontline healthcare professionals across Africa. The Framework is intended to guide health ministries, regulators, training institutions, healthcare organisations and development partners in curriculum design, continuing professional development, training needs analysis and digital health workforce planning.
