SPEECH ACTS AND COMMUNICATIVE STRATEGIES

Description

This article analyzes speech act theory and communicative strategies within the pragmatic direction of linguistics. Based on the speech act theory developed by J. Austin and J. Searle, it examines the essence of locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary acts, their types, and their role in verbal communication. It also considers the strategies employed by the speaker to achieve communicative goals (direct and indirect speech acts, politeness strategies, and mitigating and hedging devices).

The article discusses the theoretical foundations of speech acts and communicative strategies in linguistics, their connection with cultural and contextual factors, as well as the peculiarities of their manifestation in different languages (including Arabic and Uzbek). The results of the study demonstrate the importance of speech act theory for a deeper understanding of the communication process.
