Numbers as the Minimal Structures Prescribed by Operational Description: A Structural Selection from Operatiology and Noology

Authors/Creators

Description

This paper identifies the number systems that the mathematical description of Operatiology (Japanese: Sousa Genron, 操作原論), the executive layer of Cognitional Mechanics (Japanese: Chinou Rikigaku, 知能力学) as founded in Noology (Japanese: Chigaku, 知学), prescribes. It rests on Operatiology Version 6 (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.23647349) and the paper on mathematics, Version 5 (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.23679697), and supersedes its Version 2 (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.20366742). Tier-2, the executive layer, fixes the minimal operational structure C_min, a monoid of three elements generated by two, whose only non-trivial automorphism exchanges the two generators; it contains no metric, order or field. Tier-3, the projective layer, contains mathematics, and a number system enters as what the language describing the translated content requires. For each of five requirements of that language (magnitude, counting, difference, ratio and an exchange symmetry) the paper identifies the unique minimal number system: ℝ, ℕ, ℤ, ℚ and ℂ, in this order of dependence. Version 3 withdraws from Version 2 the claim that Tier-2 itself selects the numbers, the derivation of ℕ from distinct iterates and of ℤ from invertible generators, the bridge lemma for ℂ, and the co-derivation with M₃(ℂ), whose identification is the subject of a separate paper. A computational appendix checks the finite parts.

The following Python program is Code 1 of the computational appendix. It builds the multiplication table of C_min = {e, A, B} and checks the only invertible element, the constancy of the iterates of A and B, the automorphism group, and the number of faithful actions on two and on three points.
