Description

Continuity Instrument (CI) v1.0.0 is an evidence-bound specification and deterministic reference transformation for recording governed-continuity claims in long-lived AI systems. Its principal result is a vector of admitted observations, eligible participation intervals, pauses, unexplained gaps, typed events, separate lineages and structured uncertainty, rather than elapsed wall-clock age.

This academic companion edition (academic-pdf-2) includes six complete English publication PDFs and one preserved Russian explanatory supplement, complete editable editorial sources, the unchanged original source build _02 and its extracted files, a clearly synthetic teaching example, and integrity metadata. English is the primary publication language. The English explanatory paper is a complete substantive counterpart of the Russian paper. The Russian PDF retains its original academic-pdf-1 front matter. This language and editorial revision does not change the reference implementation or the evidential status. The original program transforms caller-supplied records and does not collect evidence or establish its truth or admissibility.

R157 is bounded open-synthetic predecessor evidence. R160 and R161 remain preserved negative local-evaluator qualification attempts. This release does not establish subject-specific continuity age, entity identity, personhood, consciousness, general evaluator validity, provider attestation, operational approval, scientific qualification or BACON compatibility. Historical evidence archives remain separately owner-controlled and are not included.

Component rights: the author's new explanatory prose, scientific text and descriptive metadata are licensed under CC BY 4.0. The original REFERENCE_IMPLEMENTATION/ directory (including its README and schemas), tests/test_ci_profile.py, new build/*.py, verification/verify_package.py, and examples/*.json are Copyright © 2026 Ivan Kotov. All rights reserved. No license grant. PDF 04 is mixed-rights: its Part I reproduces the reserved implementation README; Part II, the distinct editorial notes and Part III are CC BY 4.0. CC BY does not relicense the restricted components. Embedded DejaVu font glyphs and cited external materials retain their own terms. The package is publicly readable but is not wholly open-source.

Known limitation: an input containing an unpaired Unicode surrogate can trigger an uncaught UnicodeEncodeError and exit status 1 instead of the documented invalid-input status 2. This edition discloses that source defect without modifying the frozen code. The eight supplied focused tests passed in the bounded source review; they do not constitute empirical qualification.

Zenodo record metadata is available under the platform's CC0 policy, separately from component rights in the deposited files.

The enclosed files were finalized before reservation of this Zenodo record's DOI (10.5281/zenodo.23651305). Statements about DOI status within the files refer to the preparation stage. The deposited files and their checksums remain unchanged.
