ABSTRACT: Focusing on the reality of law in times of crisis — in its literary transcendence, that is, in the realm of letters — this study aims to identify and discuss the transdisciplinary poetics of Taurino Araújo’s Hermeneutics of Inequality as an instrument for thinking about the present and transforming it with a view to the future. The Hermeneutics of Inequality is a theory of law and the social sciences that regards inequality as a fundamental concept for solving problems, with broader applications to business, health, government, education, therapies, pedagogy, and the third sector, drawing on the various domains of hermeneutics in general, Philosophy, Sociology, Economics, History, Cybernetics, Anthropology, Semiotics, and Law. It is a body of knowledge devised so that the analysis of judicial decisions and social, individual, and creative processes begins with the most comprehensive possible mapping of reality; then formulates provisional answers based on “law” and knowledge; next poses appropriate questions and doubts regarding those provisional answers; and, finally, establishes definitive answers within the application of a specific “law”, according to the sequence reality–dogmatics–zetetics–dogmatics. It is a genuinely Brazilian epistemology — apart from the concept of absolute truth [as envisioned by the Modern Art Week, in its tension between consecrating the Brazilian canon and simultaneously becoming the anti-canon of rupture] — encompassing at least 19 fields of knowledge and therefore regarded by Nelson Cerqueira as an innovative monument au-delà of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle.
