Fundamentos Científicos do Processo de Vendas: Neurociência da Decisão, Economia Comportamental, Persuasão e os Limites da Evidência no Treinamento Comercial

Description

Abstract (English)

This article systematizes the scientific foundations of the sales process through an interdisciplinary approach that brings together decision neuroscience, behavioral economics, the social psychology of influence, the sciences of emotion and communication, and empirical research on salesperson performance. It is a narrative literature review that prioritizes seminal studies, meta-analyses, and systematic reviews published in peer-reviewed journals. The article argues that purchasing decisions are neither purely rational events nor merely emotional responses, but integrated processes in which neural valuation systems, cognitive biases, principles of social influence, and relational dynamics operate jointly. It traces the evolution of sales thought; describes the neuroscientific foundations of purchasing decisions and the limitations of neuromarketing; analyzes biases such as loss aversion, anchoring, framing, and the endowment effect; examines principles of influence and sequential compliance techniques; discusses relational competencies in light of meta-analyses of sales performance, according to which sales-related knowledge and adaptability rank among the strongest predictors; and compares structured methodologies in terms of their empirical support. The article also characterizes the sales training market, whose size estimates vary by more than fivefold across commercial sources, and critically evaluates Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), whose central hypotheses have not found empirical support. It concludes that sales has a genuine but still developing scientific foundation, whose responsible application requires empirical rigor, impact assessment, and ethical judgment, including consideration of Brazil's Consumer Protection Code.
