THE POETIC DEVICE OF TANOSUB IN CLASSICAL GHAZALS AND MODERN POEMS (ENGLISH TRANSLATION)
Authors/Creators
Description
The article analyses the poetic device of tanosub (muroat al-nazir, semantic association) in three classical ghazals (Navoi, Lutfiy, Babur) and three modern poems (Cholpon, Oybek, Muhammad Yusuf) from the 8th–10th-grade Uzbek "Literature" textbooks. Three criteria for identifying a tanosub series are proposed: a common seme, the absence of opposition or sound identity, and a single image. In the ghazals the series are organised around the radif together with allusion (talmeh), paronomasia (tajnis) and antithesis (tazod); in the modern poems, around repetition and refrain through figurative meaning. Tasks for textbooks are proposed that help students distinguish tanosub from related devices.
